IMHO waaaay too many people who claim to love liberty make excuses for Donald Trump.
Also, waaay too many people in "indie media" make excuses for his authoritarian leanings.
Why do they do this?
From what I have seen, there are a number of reasons.
Of course, you have the diehards who love Trump no matter what he does or says. They are mostly unreachable.
Then you have those who see how horrible Biden is and are still stuck in the "lesser of two evils" game and think they must vote for someone so Trump is the better option. These folks ignore Trump's flaws and actions, or say something like, "but he's better than Biden!".
I can literally still hear people saying that in 2020, 2016, 2012, etc when they justified voting for Biden, Trump, Hillary, Bernie, Obama, etc,
Libertarian Party members, Trump lovers, and those who reluctantly vote because they don't know what else to do are simply perpetuating a false hope that real, lasting change will come from voting. It won't.
The real answer is to stop paying attention to these politicians and put your energy into growing your own food, learning permaculture, getting off Big Tech, voting with your money and actions, buying land, promoting and supporting the creation of alternative, parallel systems.
These are real solutions. But many people don't see that because there's no instant gratification.
Instead, Exit and Build is about hard work, focusing on generational change that you might not even live to see. It's about putting the future generations first and recognizing that politicians cannot stop the march towards a one world Technocratic government.
The best case scenario is that free people build enclaves, seasteads, ecovillages and intentional communities, homesteads etc that can become pockets of liberty, inspiring others to do the same, while the system crumbles. Of course, we do not simply expect that the state will leave us be, and we are not pacifists who reject self-defense.
This is the path I am focusing on and using my voice to bring more people into this direction. Playing politics - especially at the national and international level - will never get you to individual liberty, bodily autonomy, mutual aid, and a voluntary society.
The only thing that will is to live it NOW. Don't wait for some potential future, but be an example of these principles and values in the way you live your life.
